James was admitted to the bar in 1974 after graduating from William Mitchell College of Law. He has substantial experience in insurance defense matters ranging from automobile negligence to products liability, municipal defense, and coverage cases through civil rights litigation.

In the past several years, he has handled a wide variety of employment-related cases, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and sexual harassment suits. He also has done a significant amount of fire subrogation work. He was certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1984,  is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and has perennially been named a Super Lawyer by the Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine.

Mr. Martin is licensed to practice in our Minnesota State Courts, United States District Courts, the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
